Allison Koester's research considers how taxation, government financial assistance, legislation, and regulation shape corporate economic activity and outcomes. Her research has been published in multiple FT50 journals, cited in both Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) releases and Government Accountability Office (GAO) reports, and covered by prominent news outlets including the Wall Street Journal. She has been invited to present her research at more than 100 universities and academic conferences.
On the teaching side, she has taught a variety of corporate financial reporting courses to more than 3,700 students in Georgetown’s MBA, Executive MBA, and undergraudate programs. She has been recognized for her teaching excellence with multiple awards, including as a Poets & Quants 40-Under-40 Most Outstanding Business School Professors and is a two-time McDonough School of Business MBA Excellence in Teaching recipient (an award bestowed to two faculty a year).
Koester earned her Ph.D. at the University of Washington, a Master's degree at The George Washington University, and an undergraduate degree at the University of Arizona (all in accounting). Prior to entering academia she worked as a tax consultant at KPMG (Washington DC & Northern Virginia).
